For many decades the Republican establishment has build a political life for itself by shilling for Wall Street and the super wealthy, like the Koch brothers, sometimes with the help of Democrats. This has hollowed out the old American middleclass, paving the way for a full-blown demagogue to gain power.

Enter Donald Trump. The Donald may be little more than a sleazy con artist, but like the little Bavarian of old, he is a master manipulator who has enraged the Republicans for daring to do a freelance takeover of their once exclusive right to exploit average Americans.

Trump knows that to take control of a nation by demagogic means is actually quite easy, but it does requires one to be both bold and ruthless. The formula is to maximize chaos, identify a devil and offer your self as the savior. Basically you’re creating a political religion with all the irrational emotions that come with religion.

And here is where Trump protesters come into the picture. Free speech is a cornerstone of the American way. When Trump verbally and physically, via his goons and fanatical followers, abuses protesters, he is deliberately manipulating them into retaliating in ways that seem to violate his right of free speech.

Fox News, because it has no choice, as Trump’s supporters are also Fox’s core audience, has thrown its propaganda machine behind the Donald. It is working full bore ahead, lambasting the Trump protesters for shutting down recent Trump rallies. The protesters, as Fox plays it, are running roughshod over the American sacred right of free speech.

Of course Trump’s brand of free speech is equivalent to yelling fire in a crowded theater and expecting everyone to remain calm. But for Trump the TV optics of seeing hordes of dark-skinned minorities invading his gathering of virtually all white followers is of priceless value.

Thorough such imagines he has identified the Devil that is ruining his and his majority White supporter’s country. Trump understands that no mass movement can achieve success without a good Devil upon which to blame failings. Those wicked Tromp protesters fit the bill perfectly.
