To simply say that capitalism is good or bad is silly. A well regulated capitalism is good for everyone. Predatory capitalism is bad, even for the most ruthless and greedy of capitalists in the long run.

Capitalists hate rules and regulation because they are a profit drag. No kidding. Rules and regulations like traffic lights and stop signs that save lives are a drag. So putting in rules and regulation that prevent financial collapses should been thought of as simply the necessary cost of doing business.

If it cost some greedy pigs a few pennies so that average folks aren’t ripped-off or the environment despoiled too bad.

So, yes, a well regulated capitalism that doesn’t go around buying up the government for selfish purposes is a terrific economic system. But we have a long way to go to get to that place.
