Trump And His Appeal To Married Women

My all time social theorist, Eric Hoffer, says: “Marriage has for women many equivalents of joining a mass movement. If offers them a new purpose in life, a new future and a new identity (a new name). The boredom of spinsters and of women who can no longer find joy and fulfillment in marriage stems from an awareness of a barren, spoiled life.”

By embracing Trump married women who have grown bored may latch onto a life full of purpose and meaning. “Hitler made full use,” again quoting Hoffer, “of ‘the society ladies thirsting for adventure, sick of their empty lives, no longer getting a ‘kick out of love affairs.” Indeed, many industrialist backers of Hitler came to him through their wives.

It is incredible how personal it is that voters come to the polls. Large issues of nation wellbeing are often sweep aside by ego driven emotional desires. Demagogues like Trump and the right-wing media are masters at playing upon personal desires. Married women are one piece of the action that they seem to have mastered particularly well.
