Trump And The Bulk Of The GOP Have Lost All Interest In Democracy

No different than Trump’s super model ideals, Russia and China, most of the GOP has no interest in democracy. Indeed, for Republicans it is, and has been for some time now, party over country at all costs. The goal for Republicans is to win by every dirty, lying political trick in the book. Forget about putting the nation and its people on a sound footing. For Republicans, it’s all about gaining and keeping power and serving the interests of their fat cat donors — America’s oligarchs.

So say the Republicans: How about defunding organizations dedicated to fairness and honesty in government or that serve the national good? How about putting together phony commissions that are designed to make it easier to implement voter suppression and allow Russian hackers quicker access to voter interference? How about brushing aside rules that prevent politicians and their families from directly profiting from high office? How about filling key government jobs with friends and relatives possessed of no particular expertise as to their posting? How about making Fox News America’s official news (propaganda) organ?

Trump says Washington isn’t a swamp it’s a sewer. Yes, that is becoming increasingly so with each additional day of the Trump administration, the president being the biggest, stinking turd of them all. The nation and its better angels need to flush itself of this Republican gunk that is clogging the nation’s veins and get the country back to being a functioning democracy.
