Trump Sees That he Has Gotten All That He Possible Can Out Of The GOP And Now It Is Time To Finish It Off
Trump says the shackles have finally come off. What he means is that now is the time to move into “phase two” of his slightly hidden agenda of totally destroying the GOP establishment so that post election he can run off with its crazy base and form his very own American Party, or whatever else he cares to call his evil creation.
For many traditional Republicans this comes as no surprise, but of course they have been terrified to articulate such a possibility least they accelerate the process. By delaying, however, their separation from Trump until the very last minute, many down ballot Republican candidates find themselves with one foot on the pier of sanity and the other on the SS Trumptanic, causing them to be dumped into some very frigid waters as the ship goes its own way.
In other words Trump’s constant tease to the party establishment that he was on the edge of paying nice has lured the GOP powers-to-be into the ultimate position of vulnerability, and thus now is the time for him to bring down the hammer on his patsies.
Naturally Republicans would like to pretend that they had nothing to do with the rise of the Donald, but for sure they did. It was the GOP establishment that invited and dog whistled the deplorables into its circus tent — they and their right-wing “conservative” talk radio and Fox News friends.
Did Republicans not realize that in cultivating this ugly base, this garden of malcontents, that they were sowing the seeds of their own destruction? They must never have read Eric Hoffer’s 1951 social / political classic, The True Believe. In this gem of human nature, Hoffer shows the many ways mass movements can suddenly be taken over by men of clever methods with horrific outcomes.
The GOP built the system and now Trump has usurped its heart for his own devious purposes.
