Trump’s America And The Bright Line Of Political Partisanship
The same factors of partisanship that exists today have always existed, just not as a bight line. In other words the world of Trumpism is not new in our country. Indeed, this roughly forty percent of Americans who see America through Trump eyes have always been with us. Until the last decade or so, however, they have never been so obviously organized. Theses folks are mostly a combination of the excessive greedy at the top and the crude, tribal reactionary xenophobes at the bottom of the social order.
The mainly upper crust Wall Street party, the GOP, desperate for votes in a nation whose demographics were running against their interest set out to bottom fish for votes. They endeavored to round up those of whom we would say did not represent the better angels among us.
This desperate need of the Republicans for votes happened to coincide with the advent of Fox News and other right wing media types, this latter grouping realizing that there was a disaffected segment of the American mindset ripe for exportation for big bucks.
This merger of media and political power were caused to organize the various poisons of the nation, which for many decades had remained politically fragmented and of little influence, to rise up and oppose our nation’s highest ideals, and as such formed the contrasting bight line of political partisanship against the nation’s goodness and rational opinion.
The election of a Black man for president, Barack Obama, added fuel to this partisan divide inspiring the backlash that became the Tea Party, the final corrupting element of the Grand Old Party of President Abraham Lincoln’s day. The final result was the election of the nation’s ultimate demagogue, one Donald John Trump as president of the United States of America.
After the impeachment and failure to convict President Trump of any of the House of Representative charges, the remaining question before the American people is will the nation’s better angels rise up as a counter backlash to defeat our liar in chief, the most existential threat to American democracy to have ever slither into the White House?
