Very nice and well said article, Crystal. I only have one minor quibble. You say that the problem is always the entire family’s problem. I see dangerous exceptions here. Every once in a while a mental misfit is part of a family whose defects are caused by serious genetic flaws rather than by family dynamics.

The type of flaws for which there are no good answers or cures. In that case the rest of the family should be careful not to beat themselves up over such an impossible situation, insisting they could have done more, and I’m not talking about the typical black sheep of the family who is simply different.
