Very smart men have tried for thosands of years to find the magic structure of government, but in the end nothing is capable of defeating the human mindset. It is a rock solid fact that the foundation of the human mindset is the primitive ego that is hardwired primarily for survival, and toward that end it is also hardwired to seek advantage at every opportunity.

This is why that in all societies there are folks vulnerable to ruthless demagogues. All the demagogue need do is convince enough folks that following him is to their ADVANGE and all hell is underway.

There simply is no means to defeat the hardwired human impulse to seek out advantage no matter how flimsily the advantage is presented. For some folk’s dreams of advantage are even better than the real thing. Thus we have Trump followers who feel empowered by identifying with a a cocksure spinner of fantasies. They know it anti much but it’s all they got.

So if you want a really great government, I’m certain you’re going to have to design a really great human being.
