We have reached a point in technological and general human advancement where we, and it, are on autopilot. Because, however, of the universal law of probability balance (creation is always at some point in time offset by destruction), as a species we are overdue for extinction.

The device to do so has been in place for quite some time — thousands of nukes on hair trigger alert just waiting for some nut-ball world leader like trump or terrorist or technical glitch to set them off.

So just sit back and enjoy the ride while it lasts. Deep thoughts about the future of technology are pointless.
