What Has coalesced Over Recent Years As The New Base Of The Republican Party Has Never Cared Much About Democracy

Russia is still by far America’s most dangerous opponent. It possesses the nuclear capacity to destroy us a 100 times over, yet 49% of Republicans see Russia as a friend. Truth is that Russia is a full-blown gangster republic in which Trump, desperate for cash, has become tightly entwined. In fact the Trump “empire” can’t stand without Putin’s help.

And so a vast streak of bottom feeding Republicans care nothing for the sophisticated concepts of democracy, instead they thrust for the phony strongman image of the Donald. Whatever con job he is spinning of the moment is just Jim-dandy with the current GOP base. These folks have not the slightest inclination to rise above the tribal impulse of their intellectually unenhanced egos. As far as they are concerned, let the pinhead, Ivory tower elites crow about democracy. They could care less.

And so these know-nothings are quite content to see Trump deliver us into the hands of Putin. So what they think if Russia ends up controlling America? It won’t make my miserable life any worse off than it already is, right? For these dullards the potential collapse of democracy likely wouldn’t cause them any significant loss. Thus we see America divided 40–60 between primitive tribalists and democratic idealists — just saying.
