What you may not realize is that your search for perfection is making perfection the enemy of the good.

The hard truth is that hate is the most powerful of unifying agents. You can’t counter this nature advantage by having society’s better angels wondering off and splitting their vote among a bunch of can’t win candidates.

Trump mobilized the pure hate vote. A lot of democrats who didn’t vote for Hillary, for the most part, weren’t directly part of the hate vote folks, but by going third party in infantile protest, they in effect ended up supporting the hate faction.

In fact many folks felt it was safe to make a protest vote against Hillary only because they were sure Trump couldn’t possibly win. If they had a chance at a do over, after seeing the horrible outcome, the vast majority of these protest votes would now go to Hillary simply to defeat Trump. The bottom line is that a significant number of Democrats just got careless with their vote.

Seeking perfection always hands victory to the haters.
