When you mention the dark state I of course know exactly from where that’s coming. What you would label the dark state to me is simply the institutional checks and balances that the founding fathers put in place to keep populous demagogs like Trump from running off with the country.

And like any two bit want-to-be dictator, Trump built his following by specializing in hyping grievances real and imagined at the cost of everything else — the nationalistic, the “other” is bad, tribal impulse card. That’s all he knows how to do, period. How you can support such a thoughtless, scurrilous personality just because he pretends to feel the little guy’s pain. I find in explicable. I mean, Jay, I see you as so much more sophisticated than to fall for that oh so transparent ruse.
