With Trump it is hard to distinguish between purpose and general stupidity.

The main attribute needed of a president is to have a wide background of at least general knowledge of history, science and human psychology so that when a crisis arises he can make the best possible decision.

On that most important score our current shallow minded president leaves America and humankind most vulnerable. During the Cuban missle chrisis of 1962 President Kennedy went against the advice of his general to launch a nuclear war against Russia and instead worked out a deal with the Soviets thereby saving millions of American and Russian lives. One dreads to think what clueless Trump would have done.
