Without China The US Is Helpless To Face Down North Korea

The Clock is ticking until North Korea has the capability to nuke at least LA. Unfortunately there are no good options even with China’s full alliance with the US against North Korea, and absolutely no options without China fully on board with the US, including going to war alongside the US to defeat North Korea.

We can’t begin to match the North Korea’s massive army on the ground, and with tens of thousands of conventional heavy artillery within easy range of the South Korean capital of Soul, neither could we begin to degrade by air such a threat before it devastated the capital. But even with the combined might of the US and Chinese military, South Korea, and who knows who else, would suffer extreme devastation before the north could be subdued.

Let’s say our only bad option is a military alliance with China. Why would China want to go against North Korea as a partner with the US? The short answer is that it wouldn’t, unless we agreed that China would take over control of the North upon its defeat. What China fears most is a defeated North Korea allied with South Korea and the US. If that possibility can be assured not to be the case, then China would have good cause to get rid of a very unstable neighbor on its boarder, one with an ever growing stockpile of nuclear weapons.

What makes the North Korean crisis many times more difficult is the amateur in the White House. Gaining China’s help requires a heck of a lot more than bullshit and bluster. There is something of a fatal lack of expertise in the Trump administration that causes those in the know to shutter. Thus the US is facing a near impossible situation overseen by a pathetically inexperienced cadre of American leadership.
