Demographics were changing fast, and they weren’t advantageous to the White power party, the GOP. So before things got completely out of control, old Mitch decided that since it was almost impossible to vote judges out of office then that was the place where Republicans needed to go all in — by any means possible. This of course also meant doing whatever it took to block Democratic appointments. Check!

Yes, indeed, the Republican powers to be are betting that if and when average American ever get back control of the executive and legislative branches of government, their GOP court appoints will remain in control of the government for many, many years to come.
