Yes, economic imbalance makes for a demagogues’ paradise. FDR introduced a host of social programs in the 1930s to try and break up the economic imbalance, a time when average Americans were hitting rock bottom, for which Roosevelt was accused of being a traitor to his class.

But because of FDR and America coming out of WWII the economic victor, prosperity boomed for all Americans for a quarter century. But eventually, as always, the rich and powerful have gather up all the goodies, causing the White new poor to turn their frustration upon the weak and defenseless.
