Yes, I too sometimes lose heart, even more so with some of our nation’s citizens than the government we bring into being. The quick essence of America is that over the years it has represented both the best and worst of humanity. The most idealistic on paper as in the Declaration of Independence and the most brutal in practice as it being one of the last major nations to give way on slavery — via the sword no less.
