Yes, in large measure the Trump election was a one off backlash to all the good that happened under the Obama presidency —saved (despite Republican attempts to sabotage it all) the world economy and the American auto industry and fostered a decency that helped gays and other minorities to make great strides.

On a larger scale of universal events, however, Trump’s rise points to some dark times ahead. But let’s just let that part go for another time.
