Yes, Jerry, you are spot on about Trump. The know-nothings had to find someone to lead then (to tell them that they were right about everything), and the Donald just couldn’t resist playing their messiah role.

Look, the founding fathers had a great idea when coming up with theory of American demcracy, but it’s a system that fights against nature, so it only ever gets off the ground in theory.

The average Jack and Jill are always going to respond to their hardwired xenophobic impulse to hate and fear the “other,” and demagogues like Trump are always going to have a ball exploiting that aspect of humanity.

Of course there’s no better replacement for demacracy, so humans are destined to keep on floundering until either by nature or by our own hand we are made extined. I mean, it’s the ultimate law of the unverse — creation and good at some point in time must be offset by destruction and bad.
