Yes, perhaps I sort of overstated that factor. Likely what threw the Electoral College out of wack were Democratic protest voters in key battleground states. Meaning that folks not wanting Trump to win but decided to either vote for a third party candidate or Trump certain that Hillary could not possibly lose. If this is true then the Electorial College factor was, indeed, a one time mirage.
