Yes, the positive aspect of the tribal impulse is the advantage of cooperation with like kind, however, the negative offset of the tribal impulse (and in nature there is always an offset) is fear and hatred of the “other,” until and unless one reaches a certain lever of intellectual sophistication, usually encompassing a life of high education and broad experience.
