Yes, the tip of the German spear was high tech for its time with their planes and tanks, but the long shaft of the spear was very primitive. For instance, the basic motive power of the standard German combat division was still horse power the same as World War One.

As World War Two progressed the United States — the most industrial powerhouse in the world alone was capable of out producing the axis powers by a large margin at a time before the A bomb arrived when industrial might was the absolute deciding factor in war — military was fully mechanized.
