Yes, Tom, I have spent a lifetime reading and writing biography, and I get what you say about Eisenhower being merely competent. Yet, I could say that about any “great” leader. Perhaps I was contrasting Ike against Trump because Ike was a rock of competence compared to Trump’s mega incompetence.
