You are a good man , Dan, but no matter how you slice and dice faith, it's nothing more than wishful thinking that even the greatest of non believers succumb to on occasion. We all crave hope and there is always some demagog excited to sell us some.

And perhaps even more so, most folks want to belong to a group and faith groups are a strong arttarction for those helplessly tossed about in the modern world.
