You are so right that you may have missed the full extent of your own point. There does come a time when the yo-yoing will stop, for humanity has been hanging by a thread since 1945.

As climate change slowly grinds livability impossible for humanity and much else, the final near instantaneous end rest quietly in silos and boats beneath the sea waiting for some ever so slight misjudgment or technical glitch to offset all the positiveness of humankind to date.

Stars are born and stars die and so it will be with our species . This according to the ultimate law of the universe — probability balance.
