You forgot one hugely important factor — ego. Human ego works both consciously and subconsciously to make each human need to feel that he or she is the most special center of the universe and everything.

Remember when religion taught that the earth (our home) was the center of the universe and that man was God’s special creation only to find out later that the earth was a run of the mill celestial body on the edge of the milky way — man’s egocentricity at work.

And to now think that we humans are likely the only highly intelligent beings in all of the universe’s limitless possibilities is merely the continuation of our highly biassed egocentricity.
