You have to remember, Paul, that the founding fathers saw what they created as an experiment, because they knew that historically democracies have always failed. But they were hoping that with expanded education it might possibly work this time.
Well, the sad part is that democracy runs counter to human nature, which is to survive and seek advantage at every opportunity. So, yes, to try and keep a strong democracy that serves all the people is a lot of wishful thinking. But what else is there to turn that’s better?
