You would think that in a rational America Donald J. Trump would have no chance to become president. Unfortunately there are two factors, actually three factors if you consider that the electorate often chooses a president with opposite character traits than the previous man to occupy the oval office.

The first fundamental problem is the universal law of probability balance. This rule says that creation is always at some point offset by destruction, stars are born stars die, good is offset by evil, etc. By this law alone the nation’s citizenry has to be evenly split among positives and negatives, which explains why elections are often so irrationally close.

The second problem is that humans are hardwired to to seek dominance as the primary trait for a leader. Trump has been pushing this element to the high heavens. This was the heart of the play book that allowed Adolf Hitler to push his way to the leadership of one of the worlds most sophisticated nations ever. Trump is deep into Hitler’s play book, and there, alas, is a greater receptive audience for Trump’s poison than good men want to believe.
